Vintage Chic Desk

So I am in the process of redoing my room, slowly, and first things first I decided to turn something old into something new! This desk is one that someone was throwing away many years ago. My dad painted it white when he got it and put new knobs on it to match my room as a little girl. Then...fast forward a few years and there I was re-doing my room again. This time we paint it black and added some more new knobs. Now here I am, redoing it once again. This time- I needed to make a statement!

Here is the desk before with the simple black oval knobs already removed:

I sanded it down and painted it a fresh coat of black paint that I found in the garage. It was just simple black paint with a matte finish.

Once dry, I took the drawers out and gave them a makeover. With a yard of lace, mod podge, and those cheap foam brushes, I transformed those simple drawer faces into something so different and so glamorous. And boyyyyyyy was it easy!

Here's How:

I applied a small coat of mod podge to the drawer front and quickly placed a layer of lace onto it.
(**Note- I did not apply the mod podge to the edges at this point. Just the face of the drawer.) After a minute or so, you will see the mod podge lose it's glue-look and turn clear. At this point, it isn't dry but it should be anchored down to the drawer front enough to start on the edges. This is where the foam-brush became really convenient! I dabbed the edges and a small part of the back of the drawer front with mod podge so the lace was wrapped around.
Sorry, I didn't take many pictures during this step!

I then used the sponge and dabbed more mod podge all over to seal it in.
Since this was my first time mod podging lace, it was a learning experience for me! Next time i would work better with the corners. Mine became frayed due to not mod podging them enough. I had to go back and work with it.

Anyway- It was really easy! I did it to all four drawers and allowed them to dry overnight. They ended up sitting there drying for a week or so until my super- affordable knobs arrived from Hong Kong! I ordered them off of ebay :) Here is the finish product:

Lace: JoAnn Fabric
Knobs: Ebay

Now all that's left is the rest of the room!
